Helen
BURDON PRICE paints semiabstract
and abstract works using land and cityscape elements.
Early pieces used hard edges of subtle color in segmented spaces to offer rather
remote
and impassive views of rivers, mountains and city buildings. Present work
breaks these rigid colors
into free textures and patterns, rich colors and
moving shapes
to render impassioned and romantic visions of the external world caught in telling
moments.
Acrylic paint and collage are favored media, and
often combined. Transparent layers, scoring and textures project the power of
rhythms within these images.
